Equipment
Team Disc – All new players will receive a team disc. We recommend writing a name and phone number on it since they all look alike. Players need to bring their disc to all practices and games.
Team Jersey – An email will be sent with detail on how to order your team jersey. All players need to wear their team jersey or reversible pinnie to all practices and games.
Cleats – Players need to wear cleats when playing Ultimate. Any comfortable pair is fine. Other families will likely have cleats that don’t fit their player anymore which they’d love to pass on. If you like, you can reach out to them via the TeamSnap chat.
Ultimate Gloves – Ultimate gloves are optional. Some players like to use them for added grip when the disc is wet, and to ease the sting of zippy throws in cold weather. If you’re interested, there are 2 main options: Friction Gloves and Layout Ultimate.
Rules of Ultimate
Here are 3 sets of rules. Players should choose the one that applies to their level of play and study them. We will ask rule questions at each practice. It’s also nice for parents to know the rules so they can better appreciate the game of Ultimate.
Beginner: Ultimate in 10 Simple Rules
Intermediate: Rules for Recreational Ultimate
Advanced: Official Rules of Ultimate
Spirit of the Game
A truly unique and defining element of Ultimate, Spirit of the Game places the responsibility of fair play solely on the athletes themselves by requiring each player to know the rules and make their own calls, without the help of a neutral official. These underlying principles reinforce mutual respect and trust between opponents; communication and conflict resolution skills; and self-confidence both on and off the field of play. For more information, see: Spirit of the Game.
